EN 10219-1 Certification
EN 10219-1 standard covers welded structural steel tubes made of welded, non-alloyed, fine-grained steels by cold forming and technical delivery conditions.
EN 10219-1 Classification
Four grades are specified as
JR, JO, J2 and K2 among the strength qualities of unalloyed steels. These four grades are distinguished from each other by their specified impact properties, limit values of many elements, especially with reference to their sulfur and phosphorus contents, and inspection and test properties.
According to the classification system specified in EN 10020, all steel qualities given in Annex A of EN 10219-1 standard are considered unalloyed steels.
Four qualities are specified
as N, NL, M and ML among the strength qualities of fine-grained steels. These four qualities are distinguished from each other in terms of their carbon, sulfur and phosphorus contents and low-temperature impact resistance properties.
According to the classification system specified in EN 10020, steel grades S275NH, S275NLH, S355NH and S355NLH are considered non-alloyed steels, while steel grades S460NH, S460NLH, S275MH to S460MH and S275MLH to S460MLH are considered alloyed special steels.
EN 10219-1 Short Designation
For non-alloyed steel pipes, the abbreviation for steel consists of the following:
- The number of this standard (as TS EN 10219-1),
- For structural steels, a capital letter “S”,
- For thicknesses of 16 mm or less, the specification of the lowest specified yield strength, in MPa2,
- For grades with impact resistance specified at room temperature, a capital letter “JR”, for grades with impact resistance specified at 0°C, a capital letter “J0” and for grades with impact resistance specified at -20°C, a capital letter “J2” or “K2”,
- To specify the pipe, a capital letter “H”.
For example; TS EN 10219-S275JOH
For fine grain steel tubes, the steel abbreviation consists of the following:
- The number of this standard (as TS EN 10219-1),
- For structural steels, a capital letter “S”,
- For thicknesses of 16 mm or less, the indication of the lowest specified yield strength, in MPa,
- A capital letter “N” to indicate normalized rolled and/or normalized feedstock material or a capital letter “M” to indicate thermomechanically rolled feedstock material (see Clause 6.3), a capital letter “L” for grades with impact properties specified at -50°C,
- A capital letter “H” to indicate the tube.
For example; TS EN 10219-S355NLH

Factory Production Control System
The manufacturer must establish, document, and ensure the continuity of a Factory Production Control System (FPC system) to guarantee that the products placed on the market comply with the declared performance characteristics. The FPC system includes written procedures (work instruction), regular inspections with tests and/or checks, and control equipment, feedstock, and other input material supply, manufacturing control, and product results control. Records must be legible, traceable, and correctable.
